Katie & Tim are Getting Hitched
I believe that most times, it’s the detours we take that change our lives; that bring us to the place we are supposed to be.
It was right after I graduated from college… I was broke and living at home with my parents, still trying to grasp the hard truth that my dream job hadn’t come knocking down my door; that there wasn’t anyone ready to turn the tassel on my commencement cap transforming me from the over-worked-under-paid college student to the wildly successful photojournalist that I was meant to be… So I did what a lot of my friends who faced the same hardships did. I shoved my pride into the boxes along with my old text books and got a job waiting tables. Little did I know that this job would be the one to change my life forever.
This is where I met Katie (or Tink as I lovingly call her). We were both in similar boats. We were the same age, working 50 hours a week, living with our parents and desperately trying to keep up with the 19 year old waitresses who could work twelve hours and then continue to party afterwards till the sun came up. We became fast friends and decided that we should get an apartment together. We were quite the pair. Living together, working together.. we were even dating brothers at the time. Imagine S and B from Gossip Girl… but minus the wealth, the big city and the incredible shoes…
You see, it was with this friend, at this job I had never planned to work at, where we both met our future husbands. When we finally wised up and let the brothers loose, we ended up meeting Chase and Tim the very same month. I still remember the very first time we both met our men. I remember coming home and over-thinking every tiny detail of our chance encounters and crossing our fingers that they’d both walk back into our bar again soon… It all seems like yesterday.
Fast forward four years: I’m coming up on my two year wedding anniversary and Tink and Tim are getting married THIS Saturday. We only spent one year together in that tiny apartment, but it was the year that changed my life and I wouldn’t be where I am without her. I cannot wait to celebrate with them both this weekend, I am certain fun times are sure to be had (including one infamous Tink dance move).
So here’s to detours. Here’s to friends. Here’s the the loves of our lives. And here’s to Katie and Tim. I love you both.
